Grigory Gruzman — ClaviCologne • Hamburg

Born 1956 in St. Petersburg. Grigory Gruzman had his first piano lessons at the age of five. He attended Special music school for gifted children in St. Petersburg. While attending school he had more than 300 appearances on stage in different Russian cities.

He studied with Prof. Gregory Haimowsky at the Academy of Music in Jerusalem and with Prof. Vitalij Margulis at the College of Music in Freiburg (Germany). He is a prize winner of international piano competitions in Monza and Vercelli (Italy).

Grigory Gruzman performed as soloist and chamber musician (among many others, member of the Shostakovich-Trio 1986-1996) in almost all European countries, the Far East, Latin America and the USA and held international master classes in Europe, the Far East and the USA.

More than 100 performances were broadcasted by TV and radio stations all over the world. His arrangement of Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures of an Exhibition” for piano-trio received special attention. From 1998 to 2006 Gruzman was a Professor of Piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

Since 2006 he is a Professor of Piano at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar.

Since 2006 Director of the Department of Keyboard Instruments Chairman of the International FRANZ LISZT Competition for Young Pianists and of the International Rachmaninow Competition for Young Pianists Darmstadt.
